Personal
Family: Wife – Rebecca
Rebecca and I were married in 1986. While we do not have any children of our own, we “adopt” all the students that I have in class. She regularly attends my classes, and we enjoy ministering to our “kids” together. When not in class, Rebecca enjoys quilting and playing with our dog, Barney.
About Dr. Cragoe:
Prior to coming to Baptist Bible College, Dr. Cragoe served as an Associate Professor of Bible at Cedarville University (2001-2007), and as an Associate Professor in the Theology Department of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago (1995-2001). He also served for 12 years in the pastorate (1984-1995). As a result, he brings a practical dimension to his classroom instruction.
Insight Questions
1. What is your favorite book?
Without question the Bible. I thoroughly enjoy studying the Scriptures for personal enrichment and in preparation for class as well as preaching. I can truly identify with Jeremiah when he said, “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart” (Jer. 15:16).
2. What are your hobbies?
I enjoy landscape gardening and woodworking. My wife, Rebecca, and I enjoy visiting historic sites and doing puzzles together.
3. Who has been your greatest spiritual influence?
There have been several people who have greatly influenced my life and ministry. The pastor of my home church, Dr. Richard I. Gregory, was used by God to create within me a love for the Lord, His Word, as a desire to pursue vocational Christian service. Dr. Charles Ryrie fostered within me a love for systematic theology, grounded in an accurate exposition of Scripture. Dr. J. Lanier Burns was used of the Lord to develop my love for solid exegesis based in the original languages as the basis of theology. Dr. Norman Geisler helped me develop the skill of logical and coherent argumentation in theology. Of course, my greatest encouragement in life, ministry, and spiritual growth has been my wife, Rebecca.
4. What goals do you have for your students?
My greatest desire and goal for my students is an ever-deepening love for our Lord Jesus Christ in which His likeness is reproduced in them by the power of the Holy Spirit, in response to the accurate study of the Word of God and personal prayer.
